BIOGRAPHY

Povy Kendal Atchison knew at the age of 12 that she either wanted to be the Bionic Woman or a photographer.

By age 18, her photographs had illustrated two books, "Colorado Ghost Towns and Mining Camps" (University of Oklahoma, 1985) and "Colorado Homes" (University of Oklahoma, 1986). While a student at Brooks Institute of Photography, Povy became a Deadhead, and her multi-image show of the Grateful Dead--"Dancing with the Dead"--won the Silver Award from the Association for Multi-Image International. Over her career, Povy's photographs have been published in prestigious publications ranging from Metropolitan Home to Business Week. In 2004 she illustrated her third book, "The Quilt That Walked to Golden" (Breckling Press, 2004).

These days she is a Colorado-based freelance photographer
living in Golden with her husband and son.
